ORGANISATION BACKGROUND AND LOCAL CONTEXT
Amigos de Inharrime Association (AIP) is a Portuguese NGO-D which promotes children’s access to education and healthcare and the local development through volunteering. Laura Vicuña Centre — located at Inharrime, Inhambane province, in Mozambique — is comprised by a girls’ boarding and semi-boarding school and by a public school with approximately 3,000 students. This project, implemented by AIP’s part-ner —The Salesianas Sisters — has two fundamental objectives: i) to pro-mote children’s access to education and health, especially the ones in a vulnerable situation, by increasing the number of children enrolled in school and providing better education & healthcare programmes; and ii) contribute to local development, by promoting a sponsorship pro-gramme aimed at helping the healthy growth and development of children at risk.
ACTIVITIES
This is a minimum fifteen-day training experience. Activities include:
- Briefing on both local context and project background and aims;
- Participation in the Centre’s activities, namely tutoring/in-school support and primary healthcare assistance;
- Visits to local communities;
- Concrete proposals made by the group of participants (negotiated between both parties)..
