ORGANISATION BACKGROUND AND LOCAL CONTEXT
The SOW-IT project aims to improve the quality of the diet of local peo-ple in the dry zone area of Myanmar through the introduction of water-saving innovative cultivation systems. The dry zone has always faced the problem of food and water scarcity. TDH-IT has been working there for more than 10 years with the objective of increasing the food security, enhancing beneficiaries skills in food production and fighting the malnu-trition gap, especially in children under 5.
ACTIVITIES
This is a ten-days training, including one day workshop which will be conducted in Myanmar in the scope of this initiative. Main activities include:
- Introduction to the Myanmar context and the project background;
- Two days workshop on water-saving innovative cultivation systems construction with local experts;
- Visit to the project villages and discussion with the beneficiaries.
- Roundtable discussion with the project staff to individuate needs and best practices to approach the food insecurity issue in the Dry Zone;
- Sharing knowledge and ideas about innovative, traditional and low cost techniques for future related initiatives.
